About the Owner

Hello, I’m Mayumi.

I’m originally from Kobe, Japan, and proudly 100% Kansai.

I enjoy walking in the Belgian forests with my husband and our beloved dog, welcoming friends into our home, and discovering the joys of gardening as a beginner.

After graduating from university in Japan, I earned a master’s degree in English language teaching from a U.S. graduate school, specialising in intercultural communication. Back in Japan, I worked for a global IT company, where I met my husband. Since then, life has taken us to Switzerland, the UK, and now Belgium.

Along the way, I’ve experienced both challenges and blessings—from adapting to expatriate life in Switzerland to building a new chapter of my life here in Belgium with my family. More than 25 years have passed since I first began my life in Europe.

Today, I run Peripiccoli, a curated boutique in Waterloo, Belgium, alongside an English school. I love talking with customers and hosting events such as tea gatherings and open salons—often with my dog by my side. Meeting and connecting with people brings me genuine happiness.

Through Peripiccoli, I hope to bring colour, comfort, and a touch of story to everyday life. Thank you for your support, and I look forward to sharing many more special moments with you.
