About the Owner

Hello, I’m the PERIPICCOLIRIPICCOLI.

I’m originally from Kobe, Japan, and a proud Kansai native through and through. I love humour, lively conversations, and can seamlessly switch between Kansai dialect and standard Japanese—a true bilingual!

In daily life, I navigate a multilingual household where Japanese, English, French, and Italian are constantly in use.

My hobbies include walking in Belgian forests with my husband and our beloved dog, hosting friends, and exploring gardening as a beginner.

After graduating from a university in Japan, I earned a master’s degree in English language teaching from a U.S. graduate school, specialising in intercultural communication. Upon returning to Japan, I worked for a global IT company, where I met my husband. Following our marriage, I lived in several European countries, including Switzerland, the UK, and now Belgium.

Life has brought its share of challenges and joys: from navigating the difficulties of expatriate life in Switzerland, to balancing infertility treatments with a demanding full-time job in the UK, and finally to starting a life with our dog in Belgium, where I unexpectedly became pregnant naturally. Over 25 years have passed since I first moved to Europe.

Now, I run a curated boutique, Peripiccoli, in Waterloo, Belgium, alongside an English school. I cherish conversations with customers and enjoy hosting events like tea gatherings and open salons, often accompanied by my dog. Meeting and connecting with all of you brings me immense joy.
